1. Acceptance

By accessing or using SplitEase, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Service Description

SplitEase is a free shared expense tracking application. It is a hobby project and is not a financial service. It does not provide financial, tax, or legal advice.

3. Accounts

You must be at least 16 years old to use SplitEase. You are responsible for providing accurate account information and keeping your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or other accounts
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or otherwise access the service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure

5. User Content

You retain ownership of the data you enter into SplitEase (expenses, descriptions, attachments, etc.). By using the service, you grant us a limited license to host, store, and display your content as needed to operate the service.

6. Group Data Sharing

SplitEase is designed for shared expense tracking. When you join a group, your expenses, settlements, and activity within that group are visible to other group members. This is a core feature of the service.

7. No Warranty / As-Is

SplitEase is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. As a free hobby project, we do not guarantee uptime, accuracy, or availability. SplitEase is not a financial service and should not be relied upon as the sole record of financial obligations.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Finnish law, SplitEase and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the service.

9. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your profile page. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. Any disputes shall be resolved in Finnish courts.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
